Successful seminar has taken place in the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office on the amended Chinese Patent Law

On 16 November 2011, a successful roving seminar took place in the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office on the amended Chinese Patent Law. The seminar was initiated by the European Patent Office, and formed part of a series of presentations in the topic started in Helsinki and continued in Budapest and later in Paris.

The Chinese Patent Law entered into force in 1985. After two amendments in 1993 and 2001, the third amendment of the patent law came to effect in 2009.

Ms Dong Cheng, Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) and Ms Yang Kefei, Director of Examination Administration Department of SIPO came to Budapest to describe the amended Chinese Patent Law.

Ms Dong Cheng had a presentation on the New Chinese Patent Law as entered into force on October 2009, which was followed by Ms Yang Kefei's presentation on the Implementing Regulations and Examination Guidelines as entered into force on February 2010. Subsequently the audience could get an insight into the latest statistical figures of Chinese patent protection and into the recent developments in SIPO.
