The main objective of this one-day conference is to observe the recent state of Nordic design and survey the Hungarian design in the mirror of the exhibition "Scandinavian Design Beyond the Myth". We wish to examine the phenomena connecting the traditions and identity of the five Nordic countries and the trends and effects of the global society.

The conference brings up key issues that are crucial when introducing and using a product, as well as its communication to the society. What are the answers of the Nordic experts to these issues? How is the career of a product built up? What kind of social role is planned for a product and how is this examined? What concepts and visions do these experts create about the future of design, the role of media, and the Scandinavian object as a media product in relation to global customers?

We are delighted to have visiting experts from the Nordic countries who face these problems day by day and are in the position to make strategic decisions on the field of design. By examining concrete cases it should become easier to separate the products from the myths behind them and to interpret the title of the exhibition: Beyond the Myth.
