FormaTÚRA is on its way
Exhibition of the award winners of the Hungarian Design Award 2003 - 2007
The Hungarian Design Award Competition, which was founded almost 30 years ago and became the most prestigious event of Hungarian design, was revamped by the Hungarian Design Council in 2003 to meet the challenges of our era. The objective of the award is to support the Hungarian economy, intellectual innovation and the international competitiveness of Hungarian designers in line with the trends of the 21st century. It also aims at presenting best practices to all the parties interested in design, the education and business sectors as well as the general public.
Entitled as Formatúra, this travelling exhibition presents the award winning entries of the past five years in the product, visual communication, concept and student work categories. At the exhibition you can see everyday objects and utensils alongside innovative ideas and concepts still awaiting a prospective manufacturer.
However, the exhibition was designed not only to inform but also to boost the economy of a given region or town by promoting the potential of design to add value to a successful product or service. To this end, we organise panel talks in the topics of design, market economy and innovation in cooperation with the local chambers of commerce and industry and the Hungarian Patent Office.
The first stop of FormaTÚRA (it means the tour of forms in Hungarian) was at Sopron where the opening of the exhibition was coupled with the inauguration ceremony of the renovated building of the Institute of Applied Arts of the University of West Hungary.
FormaTÚRA will go on from Sopron to Győr to be followed by Debrecen.
