The Hungarian Design Council (HDC) is an advisory board it monitors and evaluates the economic importance and development of Hungarian design and makes proposals for the government’s strategy in relation to the development of the Hungarian creative industries. It has the objective of improving the Hungarian design culture and raising competitiveness of the national economy through design-driven innovation.
The advisory board which is mandated for three years and fosters a reconciliation of opinions and interests has operated in four cycles so far, within the framework of a comprehensive program, embracing several areas of operation to improve the Hungarian design culture in accordance to the global objectives of economic policy, innovation, environmental policy and education.
The tasks of the organization are well reflected in the composition of the board since all the fifteen members have special ties to public administration, economy and design profession.
