„Vision in motion” the exhibition of the László Moholy-Nagy Design Grant Holders in the Museum of Applied Arts

The reporting exhibition of the 2013 László Moholy-Nagy Design Grantees is open for the public from the 21st of February 2014 in the Museum of Applied Arts. In the evaluation process of the applications, their innovation content, as well as their social and economical significance was considered, while their novelty, even in international comparison, was also an important factor.

At the exhibition open till the 6th of April 2014, the works of nine young designers are displayed: Zsófia Geréby, Ágnes Giba, Simon Hukaya, Zsuzsanna Jani (2011 grant holder), Ádám Juhász (2011 grant holder), Gergely Kiss-Gál (2011 grant holder), Tímea Lantos, Krisztina Németh and Éva Somogyi.

At the opening ceremony, the guests and the grantees were welcomed by Dr. Zsombor Jékely, Director of Collections at the Museum of Applied Arts; the exhibition was officially opened by dr. Miklós Bendzsel, President of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and Chairman of the Hungarian Design Council, and Róbert Mascher DLA, designer, Chairman of the Studio of Young Designers' Association.

In his opening speech, dr. Miklós Bendzsel emphasised that the grant established quarter of a century ago symbolises stability, the security of continuity, while regular renewal and reflecting to changes are also among its core values. The business sphere also plays an important role in the stability of the grant established, financed and run mostly by governmental and higher educational organisations. An exemplary cooperation of this kind is the 2013 participation of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory, a world-famous representative of Hungarian design culture: they also invited applications for a design assignment, asking applicants to create a trend-setting dinner set from Herend porcelain by combining traditional and 21st century elements.

Exhibition details
The reporting exhibition of the László Moholy-Nagy Design Grant Holders is organised together with the exhibition of the 2013 Lajos Kozma Grant Holders. The László Moholy-Nagy Design Grant
The grant founded some twenty five years ago has provided the opportunity for almost two hundred young designers to implement innovative programs and projects after completing their studies in what have often been uncertain times.

The grantees of the scholarship that is now in line with the requirements of our time receive a grant that is higher than before (150,000 HUF per month) for a total of 6 months, at the end of which the results of the their work are presented in the framework of an exhibition. Every young designer with a college or university degree of a related specialisation working in Hungary can apply for the scholarship.

Announced in 2013 by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office acting in the name of the Hungarian Design Council with the participation of the Hungarian Public Foundation for Creative Art, the Moholy-Nagy Design Scholarship is financed by the Ministry of Human Resources, the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and the Herend Porcelain Manufactory.
