"Made in Hungary" in Romania

The travelling exhibition sponsored by the National Cultural Fund and compiled by Dr Gyula Ernyey of MKISZ presents the history of Hungarian design from 1900 to 2000. The best works of Hungarian design, including a cover from 1911 of the legendary periodical Nyugat (The West), Prime Minister István Bethlen's luxury Cabriolet from 1931, one of Andor Goy's first ballpoint pen designs and the world famous Rubik cube from 1977 are displayed through emblematic objects or posters made of them. The exhibition went to the Baltic States in 2006 and those interested in design and cultural history can visit this year's joint project, organised by the Association of Hungarian Fine and Applied Artists (MKISZ) and the Hungarian Design Council (HDC), in three Romanian cities. On 28th May the exhibition "Made in Hungary" arrived at its kick-off venue, the Manzard Gallery of the Faculty of Arts of the Western University of Timisoara. From 26th June to 10th July Tranzit House in Cluj hosted the exhibition. The next venue will be the Hungarian Institute in Bucharest.
