Budapest was chosen as one of the most creative cities of the world by UNESCO (20 December 2015)

The winning application was prepared by Design Terminal with the assistance of Budapest City Council and the Hungarian Design Council, as a result of which Budapest was admitted to the Creative Cities Network by UNESCO. Budapest became the first city to receive the recognition and title of UNESCO City of Design in Central Europe and to be part of a list of cities such as Melbourne, Shanghai or Berlin.

The Creative Cities Network, which was founded by UNESCO in 2004, aims to produce a list of cities where the creative industries belong to the cutting edge of global economy. As a member of the network, cities have the opportunity to introduce their creative industries and participate in the exchange of information and experiences with other member cities.
