Call for applications
to win the Design Management Award

The public and open competition is announced by the Hungarian Design Council.
In recent years the design concept and design instruments have been increasingly integrated into the practice of Hungarian businesses and institutions. The Hungarian Design Council launched the award to recognise entities that successfully include design in their business strategy.
The award was established to highlight the role of design management in realising objectives and to reward outstanding examples.

Application procedure

Participation is free. An applicant can submit more than one application.
Entries may be submitted either indirectly, via recommendation by other parties, or via direct application by legal entities and companies without legal entity with a residence or registered office in any of the EU Member States that play a determining role in the use of design and design management.
Applications must be submitted with a completed registration form.
The applications received are registered by the Hungarian Design Council, which will subsequently contact applicants and ask for any relevant documentation necessary for the evaluation.

An application is invalid if:

  • the registration form is incomplete,
  • or the application is posted after the deadline.

All applications must be submitted by 20 April 2010 as (indicated by date on postage stamp)
Registration forms must be sent by registered post or by courier service in one copy to the office of the Hungarian Design Council to the following address:
Magyar Szabadalmi Hivatal, Magyar Formatervezési Tanács Irodája, 1374 Budapest 5, Pf. 552.
Please write "Design Management Award" on the envelopes.
Registrations are also welcome on the Hungarian Design Council website (www.mft.org.hu).

Evaluation

The jury will award the prize based on the documentation received and the form filled in by the applicant. The applicants and the referees will be notified about the decision of the jury in writing. No legal remedy may be sought against the decision.

Evaluation criteria:
In its evaluation the jury will especially consider the following criteria:
Design integration;
The application and integration of design within the whole organisation.
Initiating change through design
Key changes within the organisation and in the products/services offered, in which design was given a prominent role.
Design application
Organisational resources and processes facilitating the application of design.
Effectiveness of design
Achievements of the application of design

Award

The entry that meets the evaluation criteria to the highest standards will win the Design Management Award of 2010, and receive a certificate as well as a money prize of 1,000,000 forints.

Award ceremony

The winner of the competition will be awarded the prize at the Hungarian Design Award gala ceremony. The winner's name will only be made public on the day of the award ceremony. An additional five entries deemed to be the best by the jury will receive a certificate of merit and will be invited to participate at the exhibition organised from the winning projects.
