The Memorandums of Cooperation with the Japan Patent Office enter into force

Today, on 1 April 2015, the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and the Japan Patent Office, as well as the Memorandum of Cooperation between the countries of the Visegrad Group (the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Republic of Poland and the Slovak Republic) and the Japan Patent Office, concluded on 22 and 23 September 2014, enter into force.

The primary objectives of the Memorandums are to facilitate the establishment and future operation of the Visegrad Patent Institute, an International Searching and Preliminary Examining Authority under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, serving the patent applicants of Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the large-scale implementation of the Japanese partner’s experiences on international searching and preliminary examination. The cooperation includes – especially in the field of environment protection – the sharing of experiences and knowledge gained during the application of tools and measures considered innovative.

The Memorandums are valid for a term of three years and – in lack of provisions to the contrary – they will be extended automatically for further three years.
