BUDAPEST DESIGN MAP IS OUT

With 29 June marking the World Industrial Design Day, the celebrations in Hungary were organised by the Hungarian Design Council, a member of the World Design Organisation launching the programme. Aligned with this year’s motto of the World Industrial Design Day – Thinking Outside the Box: A Manifesto for Responsible Production and Consumption –, experts held a round-table discussion addressing the innovative methods of using design to develop enterprises, concurrently observing the principles of sustainability.

At this event, Project Manager of Budapest Design Week and member of the Hungarian Design Council Judit Osvárt presented the Budapest Design Map. Using the practical, user-friendly map, just about 150 thematic design locations can be accessed in the city, including showrooms of furniture shops, fashion and jewellery designers, workshops, museums, as well as professional institutions. This makes Budapest Design Map the most comprehensive tourist guide to the Budapest design scene, available at around 200 locations in the capital city in 15,000 copies.

Budapest Design Map helps visitors to Budapest select the specialist shops that best suit their interests, or may even organise an interesting design-themed tour around Budapest, visiting the locations selected from the map. The spots indicated mostly feature shops, showrooms and workshops of Hungarian designers, but they also include sellers of international design furniture, regularly held fairs, special training workshops and other venues that may be interesting also to Hungarian design fans, in addition to foreign tourists.

Budapest Design Maps are available in the tourist information offices and design shops across Budapest, as well as in assorted downtown bars and restaurants. For the exact points of availability, please see the detailed information provided on the Facebook page of Budapest Design Week.

Budapest Design Map is a publication of Budapest Design Week. Budapest Design Week is sponsored by patron Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, and organised by the Hungarian Design Council. Budapest Design Week will be held between 6 and 15 October this year; for further information, please see the event website and Facebook page.
